Game Night: Saturday 11-3-2001

Mississippi Queen

Wizard

Ed

Jen John P.
Laura Neal Ray
Suzanne

The Mansons stayed for an early game, so we grabbed something we already knew.  This was an especially good idea, since drinks were already flowing.  Jen came in third even though she sat out an entire hand!!!  I was last through the first 5 rounds!!!

Wizard Winner Ray 130 - John P. 120 - Jen 100 - Laura 80 - Neal 80 - Ed 60

Take 6 ABORT! We started to play, and got in a good round, then all the players changed.  Egad!

Suzanne suggested the game I can not resist.  Ed and I were neck and neck the entire race.  I almost lost it on a sharp right turn, but Ed (and the others) ran into similar issues with the same turn which allowed me to retain my lead.  We were not aloud the call the passengers "Bitches" (ask Suzanne), but were allowed "Whores".

Mississippi Queen Winner Ray - Ed - Suzanne - John P - Jen

Game Night: Saturday 11-10-2001

Heimlich & Co.
Werewolf

Don Dugger Ed
Jen Jenny John P.
Noelle Pat Ray

This past weekend brought the Mansons, but they could not stay due to a condition we call 'non-tired' kids.  We aborted EVO (new) when Pat, Jenny, and Dugger show up!!!  We played "Undercover" instead (supports 7 players) and Secret Agent Pat was as ruthless as ever.  But in the end, NO ONE guessed more than 2 of the 7 identities right, so I all fell back to the agents on the board.  I was last the entire game and ended up third at the end.  I think green and grey won?  Jenny?  Its hard to remember.  The drink of the night was the zombie.

When Don and Noel  showed up, we had 9!  So, I took out a new party game called "werewolf" aka "Mafia".  This game is circulating the colleges right now and requires no purchase.  It is a concept game, you simply need a few cards so you can secret designate the werewolves.  Here is the link to the rules:

Anyways, we played this numerous times, there was MUCH shouting and cheering, and NO ONE KEEP ANY SCORES (the sign of a great party game).  Whenever we have 9 or more, we have to try this again...

Game Night: Saturday 11-17-2001

Cartagena
Rage

Jen Michelle Pete
Ray Steve Suzanne

Make your own pizza night was great.   Once again, everyone outdid themselves.  Pete & Michelle are to be commended for their tolerance of our chaos.

Game night started with Cartegna, since Pete and Michelle had never played it.  They caught on fast, especially Pete (who had the first little man in the boat). I this particular game, there was a mad rush to get pieces started.  The early parts of the board were crowded and there were some long jumps (a bottle of grog!)   Michelle got 2 pirates (aggggh) trapped at the back of the board and got hosed.   I was the last to get a pirate (arrrrrrrgh) into the boat, but the first to get in all 5.  Steve was maybe 2 cards behind me.

Of course, each week we find that we have to re-explain the popcorn joke to someone.  This week it was Suzanne.  (The joke is the popcorn container with the 'hole' cut in the bottom).  This time, the reference was to using your own popcorn.
person 1 : "That's stupid."
person 2:  -"Unless he really likes popcorn."

Lastly, we played Rage.  Michelle has trick taking flashbacks which kept her from finishing out of the basement.  Pete killed us, even if he took the controversial 10 point renege penalty.  The highlight was watching me take a trick I did not want with a 2.

Game Night: Saturday 11-24-2001

Cartagena
Das Amulett
Liars Dice
Zero

Ed Jeannette Jen
John P. Ray Steve
Suzanne Tom

Despite my understanding that Ed and John could not be wretched away from DAoC, they showed up right on time!

Tom and Steve sat out the first game playing with the new driving simulator, while I explained the rules of Das Amulet to Jeanette.  Although I thought I may be rambling, Jeanette assured me that she was a very bright person and to just keep explaining.  I was worried that I did a bad job as she was in last after 3 turns.  I jumped to an early lead, but like in Medici, I overspent my way and never gained another jem after turn two.  Patience is the key to this resource game.

Das Amulett Winner John P. 7 - Suzanne 6 - Jeannette 5 - Ed 3 - Ray 3 - Jen 2

I wanted a game to start quickly, so I grabbed one I knew Tom knew and liked.  I got a great jump by using the 'gun line' straight to the boat!

Cartagena Winner Ray 6 - Steve 3 - John P. 1 - Tom 1 - Ed 0

I was beating everyone until the last hand.  Argh!!!!

Zero Winner Jen 18 - Ray 19 - Suzanne 22 - John P. 26 - Ed 27

John boned Ed with his 'I have two 4's ploy'.  Ed didn't stand a chance.

Liars Dice Winner John P. - Ed - Suzanne - Steve - Ray

Please note that John won TWO games, and can no longer moan about 'never winning anything'.
