Game Night: Saturday 3-4-2000

Well, last week was a blast with Pete and Michelle, Jen and I, and Ed
and Prich (alias Johnny) playing a short card game from ewe know who, "Junk
dealer". A cute game, interesting, forgettable. Then we played a rousing
game of Union Pacific. Man Did Pete CREAM us. But I still like the game.
So did everyone else too, with the caveot that it is a tad long. And their
right!

This Saturday, we were in Florida. My dad got remarried. 3rd times a
charm!

This Saturday (the 18th), I am looking forward to another great game night.
I do, however, owe my wife one million (swoosh noise) dollars for losing a
stupid bet. So, bring some beer!

Game Night: Saturday 3-18-2000

Well, this Saturday brought Tim & Beth, Ed and Pritch, and your humble
hosts to the table about 9pm. We started with a new card game called
T-Rex. You play cards in an attempt to manipulate which card will be in
front of you on the table when the round ends. If you one of the two
highest cards, you get a colored egg. Matching color eggs multiply and
increase your score. Sound simple, it isn't. In an unprecedented display
of confusion, we actually played through the sample example in the
rules. Ed was Anna, I was Nick, I think Beth was Bill. When we got the
mechanics down (some cards have meteors on them, some have cards) we played
through. It is hard to explain, but it goes to the old expression, "you
went a long way to get to that punch line". Ed liked it, but I found the
rules too intricate for what should be a card game. It was interesting,
but the fun factor was, well, let's just say we have too many other better
games. I mean, Klunker was hard to grasp at first, but we have played it
numerous times.

Anyway, we then started a game of Hoax, but no one liked the mechanics. I
just seemed doomed to be the only person to like that game. Shame on me.

So, off to Medici. We bid on 2 lots (all going to Tim for a combined total
of 25!) When Pete shows up! Well, that's 7. So, away went Medici and out
came "Take 6", a favorite of Beth.

Well, never did I see games of Take 6 last so SHORT. Each game last only 3
rounds. and 4 players in the second game finished over 66 points!. I won
the first game, but the second game was between Pete, Beth and Pritch. I
think Beth won.

So, it's late. What happens then? Liar's Dice. Never in our wildest
dreams did we anticipate what would happen next. With 7 players we had to
add a cup, but no big deal.

Sneaky Pete gets this stone look on his face, and just decimates the
table. 3 games in a row. Our first 3 time champion. He looked like he
was playing poker in Vegas. And talk about jumping right for the clitoris,
he would start a round by trying to guess exactly how many of something was
on the table. And he was nailing it. Consistently. We all started to
look like elves on Easter looking for something to do, but knowing we just
had to wait for next time.

So, We broke up for the night, but actually, Beth and Tim stayed a little
longer and we played a game of "cricket" on the old dart board. I could
not even hit the board until I remembered Pete and got the "eye of the
tiger". Then I caught up and ended up wining.

By the way, cheese popcorn should be lightly coated in cheese powder. Not
the other way around.

We are moving Good Friday, and host the first of our new game nights at the
new house Saturday on 4/22nd at 9pm. Should be a riot. Until then, we are
still holding this esteemed event each and every Saturday night right
here. You may have to bring beer or bedding for the next 4 weeks as we
have cut back on shopping and already started packing, but a six pack and
porta-crib should get you a great evening of entertainment. Certainly a
deal for the low, low price. Isn't it? Guys?

Game Night: Saturday 3-25-2000

Must have been the warm weather, 'cause we had zero players!!! That's
right, and empty house. He's hoping it isn't the plague!

Until this Saturday...
